The Office

It took a while, but I found my desk. Orientation took up all last week. It was fun. I met a lot of great people. In fact, I ended up sitting next to the HR director the entire week. He is new to the company and I am glad to have made a friend like him so early on in my career here. It was a wonderful experience despite being mostly focused on our sales team. Still, I am amazed by all we do.

My desk is in the basement with all men. I know it sounds a little like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It kind of is that way. I am learning the ropes, but there are very few ropes to speak of. I am the first project manager here and I have a feeling that they will accept any and all of my help. I have a lot of great ideas, but it will really take the team to make it happen.

So, that is what is going on. The bonuses: free gym membership, brand new MacBook Pro, iPhone 6, company credit card, paid travel…etc. The drawbacks: being on the less than admirable side of town, not working two feet from one of my best friends, not as much vacation, office in the basement…etc.

I’m looking forward to having as much fun here as Jim.

Whirlwind Working Woman Who Runs

Well, I feel as if I am getting the hang of this job. That doesn’t mean that I am a whiz yet, but I definitely hit the ground running. It has to be the perfect job for me. Between the organizing, bossing, and getting to know clients, I am in heaven. Yeah, there are those things I put off doing like everyone does in a job, but to be honest-those are few and far between. We had a conference this week and I had so much fun with my clients and coworkers. I feel so blessed to love my job the way that I do.

Vacation is ten days away. I have started running again. I went ahead and bought new running shoes. Those Asics completely ruined me. Within a mile, my shins and heels were screaming. They forced me to give up and focus on my functional training. Unfortunately, my shoulder started acting up. After dealing with numbness 18 month ago, I have babied it anytime it is in pain. So, when the pain started again, I had to invest in some nice running shoes and go lace up.

I found these:

2013-06-02 14.50.57Newton’s might be the best running shoe out there. With a lowered heel, they force one to hit more in the forefoot when running. I am not going to lie, I like all the bounce and cush possible. These allow me to have to comfort without sacrificing the form. I am a convert. And so is the poodle as she loves our runs. 🙂

Other than that, I have promised myself to mind my eating the next few days. In addition, the mister and I are headed to Chicago and are trying to get everything in order before we leave. More to come on our projects. Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry for the break. I had to get situated before I could really spend some time on the blog.

40 Days and 40 Nights

40 days until vacation.

I really cannot believe it. I am so excited to have the time to just relax.

In fact, I have tried to begin that relaxation bit already. With my new job beginning today, I am trying to take a new approach to work. Work hard, do my best, stay organized and strive to exceed expectations. But above all: CHILL! I am naturally high strung, so I am beginning this process the right way in order to keep sane. I know this new job can be stressful. I just want to stay as calm as possible.

My Happiness Project is going well. I’ll have an update soon.

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Here I am with my mother and sister last summer on Mt. Rainier. What an awesome day!
